The Biggest event in Melbourne’s racing calendar, the race that stops a Nation and arguably the world now is no better time than to be a little risky and keep up with the fun and frivolity that is Australia's Melbourne Cup.
With my new book being launched in a few days and with minutes to prepare I decided to be courageous and follow through on a suggestion but a friend to make a book cover dress! It seem like the craziest idea at the time, but then it became a reality when a material shop was able at the last minute to print the material in 24 hours.
I cut out the pattern and my genius mum sewed the dress... the preparations were done only minutes before the big day. Needless to say I did feel pretty self-conscious walking to the bus stop in this dress with plan clothed people all around me. But as I learnt from being a beach athlete and osteopath that if you want to follow your dreams you often have to go out on a limb! Few people are successful from just fitting in. Following my dreams and putting my book out there for the world to see too courage and determination and this was no different.
It was a great day and in true Melbourne style we had a few minor showers but it didn’t dampen the spirits of the day with Green Moon the flavour of the day, who would have thought, but you can never pick them, and you have to keep an eye out for the quite achievers and those willing to chase their dreams! I'd love to hear your thoughts on my 'Back Body and Soul' Book Cover Dress.
